It was a really busy news day and in a way that helped Gov. Christie. We were ready to hear about David Wildstein entering a guilty plea in the Bridgegate mess but no one expected what broke in Baltimore just before things got underway in Newark. In Baltimore the chief prosecutor charged six police officers  with a range of crimes including murder and manslaughter growing out of the arrest of Freddie Gray whose death parks days of unrest.

Marilyn J. Mosby, filed the charges just after getting a medical examiner’s report that ruled Gray’s death a homicide. She has been in office only four months and comes from a family of law enforcement.

In Newark, Wildstein, looking so much thinner as to be almost unrecognizable,  pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the George Washington Bridge. The Port Authority’s former deputy executive director Bill Baroni, who also is a former New Jersey lawmaker, and Christie's former deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, were indicted of charges of using the bridge to punish a mayor who didn't support Christie's re-election then covering it up.

It all sounded familiar because we had heard it all before. News media decided the Baltimore happenings were bigger news. Had that not happened in Baltimore, there would have been far more coverage of the Newark events and Christie's connection to the players. From this point forward my columns and blogs will be on www.bobingle99.com, my new web site.
